Head of First Line Risk

As a Barclays Head of First Line Risk, you will provide line management for a team of Business Risk Managers based in Jersey and Guernsey. You will support the Head of Business Delivery and Control in Channel Islands in carrying out key responsibilities in respect of risk and control. This will include chairing the Offshore Business Acceptance Committee and attending other risk committees. You will act as the subject matter expert to a number of mandatory projects affecting the Private Bank & Overseas Services (PBOS) businesses in the Channel Islands and will be representing the Risk team at the Country Manager’s Committee.

As a Head of First Line Risk, your main responsibilities will involve:        
• Motivating and inspiring others through clear communication and effective use of training, technical and coaching skills with an experienced team of subject matter experts
• Sharing knowledge and best practice, supporting as required through consultation and supporting in training, coaching and mentoring to embed and enhance Risk knowledge and awareness of colleagues across the business
• Liaising with key stakeholders on risk governance and control matters, often at a senior level
• Being a key member of the Channel Islands leadership team, delivering excellent leadership and carrying out all performance management responsibilities for the team
• Responsibility for coaching and training those who report into you to a high level, in order to achieve the team’s objective of supporting risk governance and control
• Owning the compilation of the annual Anti Money Laundering (AML)/ Countering Terrorist Financing (CFT) business risk assessment (a regulatory requirement designed to mitigate assessed risks)

As a Head of First Line Risk, your skills and qualifications will include:
• A detailed knowledge of Customer Due Diligence (CDD), AML, CFT, sanctions, fraud, reputational and operational risk
• Experience in the management and leadership of people, being a strong influencer with high levels of integrity
• Strong stakeholder management, with excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong analytical skills, with exceptional attention to detail
• The ability to prioritise your workload, in order to ensure all deadlines are met
• Experience working in a large, challenging and complex matrix organisation
